Six60
From their bleak student flat at 660 Castle Street Dunedin, emerged a unique sound which could be described as a fresh Kiwi fusion of roots, reggae, hip hop, dubstep, and drum and bass. A sound, which over the past couple of years has resonated around the country, catching people's attention and creating huge demand.
After releasing their first self-titled EP early last year, Six60 have performed at large-scale festivals such as Rhythm and Vines and Splore, alongside music heavyweights such as; Salmonella Dub, Katchafire, Hollie Smith and Tahuna Breaks, Kora and the Blackseeds.
This year has seen the band consistently sell out shows nationwide promoted only by word of mouth and their ever increasing database. The highlight was selling out the Studio in Auckland with no single at radio, video at TV or album in stores!!!

Since their inception in 2004, northland reggae band, 1814, whose members live in the hill's surrounding the beautiful Whangaroa Harbour, have been busy this past year cementing their name on the local and international reggae scene.
Patu describes the 1814 sound as having an up beat, funky, r'n'b, roots reggae feel to it. If you love skankin, you'll love the live shows, full of energy, up beat grooves, wicked sax and sweet soulful vocals.
Recent sold out shows here and in Australia have put the band in hot demand with offers for further travel overseas.
Debut album, Jah Rydem, recently entered the top 40 and hit number 1 on the Independent Charts, which Patu said, "was a huge surprise and a bit of a buzz for this hard working band from up north".
The name "1814" was taken from the year the Gospel arrived at Oihi, in the Bay Of Islands. Missionary Samuel Marsden, held the first sermon there on Christmas Day, 1814. This is the inspiration behind delivering a message of peace, love and unity to all people throughout the world.
