In this tribute to Ella Fitzgerald, jazz chanteuse Jennine Bailey performs classics such as 'How high the moon', the beautiful ballad 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' and popular jazz standard 'Mack the Knife', accompanied by some of New Zealand's finest jazz talent.
American jazz singer, Ella Fitzgerald was known as the The First Lady of Song. With an extraordinary vocal range, she sold over 40 million albums and won 13 Grammy Awards over a career spanning 59 years.
She could sing sultry ballads,sweet jazz and imitate every instrument in an orchestra. Jennine Bailey is regarded as one of New Zealand' stop jazz singers, with asultry smooth voice and witty repartee.
Her fresh and original interpretation of jazz and pop tunes has seen her perform in musicals and stage productions as well as festivals throughout the country.
Jazz singing doesn't get much better than this – a wonderful tribute to one of the great singing legends.
