As the centenary of the First World War is reminding us, the great conflicts of the 20th century have had an enormous and lasting effect on our culture and history, and has provided a rich source of inspiration for writers. In their different ways, Ockham Book Award winner Stephen Daisley, children's novelist David Hill and young adult author Anna Mackenzie, both prize-winners also, have tackled this challenging subject-matter in their work. They talk to Kate de Goldi about research, about reaching different audiences and about writing war stories in the 21st century.
